FOLSOM, Calif. — Folsom agreed last year to pay over $1 million to settle claims made by four city employees who alleged workplace discrimination.
The city is spending $1,070,000 on settlements of four lawsuits and one workers compensation claim, according to legal documents Folsom shared with ABC10 on Wednesday.
Who signed settlement agreements?
James Dorris, an Asian man, worked as an officer for the Folsom Police Department from 2005 until his firing in 2022, ABC10 previously reported. His initial lawsuit, alleging racial discrimination, harassment and emotional distress, was filed April 12, 2023. He signed his $550,000 settlement agreement Dec. 1, 2025.
Kimberly Lim-Watson, an Asian woman, began work as a Folsom Police Department officer in 2005, according to her initial lawsuit, alleging racial discrimination, harassment and emotional distress, filed June 6, 2024. She signed her $48,000 settlement agreement Dec. 8, 2025.
The settlement agreement also acknowledges Lim-Watson’s scheduled receipt of $102,000 from a separate workers’ compensation claim settlement and says she intended to resign from her employment with Folsom. Her last day was Dec. 8, 2025, according to the city.
